RE:      Emergency Notifications and Preparedness

Date:   07/02/2012

Please share the following information with the people who report to you. In turn, ask that they share the information with members of their departments.

There are some steps you can take for notifications should a wildfire necessitating evacuation, other emergencies impacting our community or other important messages.

From your landline phone, call the Clear Creek County Dispatch Center at 303-679-2393 (not 911 please!) and ask them if they can verify that your landline phone is associated with the correct address.  This way, if an emergency notification by the County’s Code Red System (aka “Reverse 911”)  is necessary to notify you of an evacuation and/or emergency, you will have verified that your number and address are “on the grid”, so to speak.

You can also sign up your cell phone for Code Red notifications on the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office website.  Here is the link: http://www.clearcreeksheriff.us/

  • Click on the “Code Red” box on the lower right hand portion of the website home page and follow the sign up instructions
  • You will receive text messages and/or emails, however you set up your preferences
  • You will need to know your cellular carrier. Some mergers (AT&T, Sprint, Nextel etc) have created some confusion in this regard so if you want to verify, follow the instructions on the page registering to “Send a Test Alert”.

Contact the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office at 303-679-2348 if you have any questions or need assistance in signing up for Code Red notifications.
